Eyebrow lift / brow lift / forehead lift
The best candidates for an eyebrow lift are people suffering from sagging skin on the forehead, dropping brows, lowbrow or deep crow's feet. Some of those people help themselves by constantly raising their brows in order to look better because if they don't they look tired or angry.
Technology of the traditional eyebrow lift
First of all we measure the maximum possible correction for your individual skin condition. In most cases we can remove an excess piece (2 to 3 cm) from the hairy part of your skin to elevate the upper half of your face.
Where your hair line is determines where the surgeon will decide to make an opening.
With the traditional eyebrow lift the incisions are made in places that are not easily noticeable: hidden by the hairline across the scalp and between the ears.
Possible complications
- Numbness in the forehead (may last 12 months)
- Weakening of muscles
- Ptosis (the eyelids do not cover the eyeball completely when closing)
- "Dry eyes"-symptom (may last a week)
- Hair loss (may last 2 to 3 months), with older patients and patients with extremely thin hair it may be permanent
- Position of eyebrows uneven
- Loss of forehead mimic
- Dents due to uneven filling
- Eyebrows too high: "scared face"
The endoscopic forehead–lift
This technique is very effective with younger people that have buoyant skin because it is possible to smooth the forehead without removing too much skin.
Advantages
- Only 3 tiny openings are necessary in place of the common “scalp incision”
- Scarcely numbness, hair loss or other complications
- Thanks to the endoscope other face lifts, neck lifts and liposuctions are possible
Disadvantages
- Up to now there is no optimal correction of eye-catching imperfection; approx. one out of ten is not happy with the result
- Direct excision of wrinkles with scalpel
Forehead wrinkles and simultaneous eyebrow lift
The process of ageing is natural. As time goes by our face starts to lose elasticity. Excessive sun exposure or overuse of sunbeds, wrong make-up, unduly smoking or under-supply of the skin with water often amplify the ageing process. Luckily, we can help minimize the visible signs of ageing!
Signs of ageing are sagging skin, wrinkles and creases across your forehead. A facelift can reverse the ageing process.
By removing the wrinkles we can also change the position of your brows. Also we can change and tighten your eyelid.
Frown lines and other facial expression wrinkles
When feeling and showing emotions we use facial muscles. Expressions like smiling, frowning, make the skin contract and creases and wrinkles deepen. At the age of 30 facial expression lines become visible.
Furrows often have a negative effect on your charisma, especially those frown wrinkles between the eyes that make you look tired, sad, or angry even. The deep wrinkles around your nostrils resemble an expression of disgust, the wrinkles at the corners of your mouth are perceived as a sign of sorrow or fear.
Expression wrinkles can be smoothed with the help of Botox. In doing so your very own facial expression remain intact just the permanent signs of disgust, grief, anger and so on are counteracted dramatically. In many cases the years of facial expression have caused such deep wrinkles that even with Botulinum toxin (Botox) they cannot be removed completely. In such a case a direct removal of the wrinkles can work wonders. Within 30 minutes everything is over and five days later the stitches can be taken out.
Especially the persistent wrinkles around your nostril can be removed that way. They are almost invisible afterwards.
Sagging neck skin - “Turkey neck”
Also the turkey neck's days are numbered that way. With a vertical incision (see picture) or even better: with a zigzag incision.
Is the vertical neck incision the right treatment for me?
Yes, if
- you already underwent facelift surgery and your neck still appears not smooth enough.
- if you are a heavy smoker and a facelift seems too risky.
- if you do not need a facelift since you are troubled by sagging skin in the neck alone.
Possible complications associated with neck lift surgery
- Visible (noticeable) scars
- Problems with wound healing
- Collection of blood beneath the skin (haematoma)
